What is a holistic dentist?

Holistic dentistry incorporates a whole-body approach when treating a patient’s oral health. Instead of focusing solely on the health of a patient’s teeth and gums, we also consider the mind, body, and spirit of the patient. With this comprehensive focus, we promote overall wellness versus simply treating the disease. Drs. McGinty's philosophy is firmly rooted in the best practices of holistic dentistry. When treating any type of disease, they take into consideration how it can impact a patient’s overall health and well-being.

How does a holistic dentist differ from a traditional dentist?

While both types of dentists work to help protect the health of their patients, the true difference between a holistic and traditional dentist is the approach taken in how patients are treated. A traditional dentist treats the symptoms of dental disease that appear in a patient’s teeth and gums only after they become problematic. Holistic dentists seek to treat the underlying problems that cause symptoms to develop in the mouth. They also attempt to eliminate those problems by preventing any adverse effects on the patient’s overall health.

What type of dental services do you offer?

Dr. McGinty provides a comprehensive range of dental care services designed to help maintain and improve our patients’ oral health. Whether you need a routine cleaning, desire a brighter, whiter smile, or require a dental bridge to repair a gap in your smile, the team at McGinty Dental Group has you covered.

How often should I visit the dentist?

The American Dental Association and Dr. McGinty recommend that patients receive a dental exam and cleaning once every six months. This type of regular dental care will enable our doctors to spot the signs of dental disease early on while still easily treatable. However, depending on the current state of your oral health more frequent appointments may be required.
